The upswing in home sales that has been reported by many Atlantic Seaboard estate agencies recently is particularly noticeable in Bantry Bay and Clifton says Lanice Steward, MD of Anne Porter Knight Frank.

Quoting figures for these areas supplied by Helen Hoekstra, APKF’s Sea Point/Atlantic Seaboard manager, Steward said sales in Bantry Bay for July, August and September totalled a fraction over R100 million with Bantry Bay houses and sectional title units leading the way with total sales of R48.5 million.

APKF’s most noteworthy sale in this area recently was a double storey Cape Cod style home at Bantry Bay which was bought for R9.8 million.

This modern home has views of the ocean across Sea Point and, being on a steep slope about 200m above sea level, it makes the most of these views by means of French doors and extensive balconies and patios. The open plan living/reception areas are extensive, says Hoekstra, and make the home ideal for entertaining.

“Time will show that this was an exceptionally good buy in an area that is now again appreciating in value ahead of the general market, due to land and stock shortages and its exceptional position,” says Hoekstra.
