Capital growth in secure estates has been far higher than for ordinary homes with less emphasis on security, says Mark Upton of Upton Properties, sole agent for The Highwick, a new Claremont development.

“Recent research shows that secure estates are good investments.”

The Highwick will consist of six modern north facing homes priced from R5.55 million, with private access to the Douglas Murray playing field, which itself has direct access to Herschel Girls School.

“The Highwick is one of only a handful of developments in the southern suburbs that has a 24-hour manned guard house and CCTV,” says Upton.

The Highwick is the latest development by Urban Space, founded by Brendan O’Brien and Paul Greenwood. Other Claremont developments by Urban Space include Cross Trees Terrace, Mont Clair Terrace and The Constance.

After last weekend’s launch one house has already been sold and negotiations are in progress on two more homes, says Upton.

“Building is due to start in February 2010 and owners can expect to move in from 10-12 months after that, depending on winter rains,” says Upton.
