New hotel for Woodstock, Cape Town

Woodstock in Cape Town will soon have a new hotel, which form part of the WEX1 development – a mixed-use building that will comprise residential units, restaurants, a swimming pool, a gym, an entertainment deck and retail outlets.

The Stock Exchange hotel will be managed by Newmark Hotels, Residences, Reserves & Lodges.

The greater building, on Albert Road opposite the Woodstock Exchange and close to The Old Biscuit Mill, was designed by Vivid Architects and is being developed by property development company, Signatura in partnership with Indigo Properties.

The Stock Exchange will include 33 studios, studio deluxe units and two-bedroom apartments. The rooms have been divided into three distinct themes – urban jungle, urban art and urban pattern.

“The greater interior design principle places much emphasis on the celebration of local talent and the formation of a genuine connection with the neighbourhood,” says Newmark managing director, Neil Markovitz.

“In keeping with the overall design, furniture and décor items in the Stock Exchange’s rooms will be pinpointed on a “design map” of Woodstock, enabling guests to buy similar goods and support the region’s artisans.”

The property is close to a MyCiTi bus stop, bicycle lanes and a train station, allowing easy access to Woodstock’s vibrant points of interest and Cape Town’s popular tourist attractions.

Markovitz says: “The Stock Exchange’s refreshing look and feel will align with Woodstock’s trendy atmosphere. We are confident that guests are going to fall in love with this hotel, which will form part of Newmark’s Residences Portfolio. We look forward to its opening in 2019.”

The Stock Exchange is scheduled for completion in March 2019.
