With the first two apartment blocks at Oasis Retirement Resort (Palm Springs and Palm Grove) being almost sold out, the developers have launched an addition to the sectional title offering at this luxurious resort at Century City.

Palm Royale offers choices ranging from garden apartments to spacious ‘houses in the sky’ that measure up to 237 m2, excluding balconies. Prices range from R2.4 million to R8.6m and transfer is due in the third quarter of 2013, says the developers’ representative, Owen Futeran.

Sales consultant, Cindy Sheard, says the initial response has been tremendous and units worth about R60m have been sold during the early marketing phase.

“People appreciate what Century City offers, since it was voted one of the most desirable residential precincts in South Africa. Oasis itself is no longer a hidden gem but rather a high profile resort that encourages retired people to live life to the full,” she says.

Futeran says the developers have delivered on their promises to create an environment with gardens, ponds and fountains as well as the Oasis Club, which has a 25m heated indoor pool, a sauna, a steam-room, a gym and an aerobics area, as well as a library, a bridge room, a restaurant, a coffee bar, a big screen TV room and a pool and snooker room.

“The club is built around palms and fountains at the core of this oasis and an additional function venue with outdoor dining and entertainment areas that overlook a pond, will be added to the club as part of the next development phase,” says Futeran.

A feature of Oasis is the sense of community support that has evolved. Residents enjoy theme dinners, special events and their own private functions in the communal areas. A residents’ committee also runs a monthly social and recreational programme that keeps residents as active as they want to be.

Estate and club manager, Jack Boddington, says the monthly newsletter, Oasis Nexus, reflects the busy and varied life of the Oasis community.

Lizzie Brill manages the Oasis Care Centre at the resort and stresses the importance of the best possible medical backup and facilities.

“Our modern and sophisticated care centre offers various specialist categories of care, licensed by the Department of Health and the Board of Health Funders of SA respectively, complying with stringent criteria and regular detailed inspections,” says Brill.
