Construction of Sandton Towers is well underway on Alice Lane opposite Sandton City, and will be completed in October, and Broll Property Group has signed up law firm Deneys Reitz Inc to take two thirds of the space.

A joint development between Zenprop and Tiber, Sandton Towers will stand one of Sandton’s tallest buildings and will provide desirable office space in Sandton, says Broll’s Fran Teagle, who introduced the site and the project to the tenant; coordinated an extensive space-planning exercise and worked with the relevant parties for a year until the lease was signed.

The building has already reached roof-height and on completion will provide six levels of parking and 16 storeys of offices. The top six floors are available for a corporate tenant.

Sandton Towers’ two sculpted towers are linked by a vertical atrium and defined by checkerboard glass panels in black, white and grey which arc up the fluid curved walls of the building’s northern and southern facades.

The panels are made from double-glazed imported glass panels which clip together and protect against external heat, cold, and noise. This means the building is extremely energy efficient with the panels creating substantial savings for the air-conditioning and heating requirements in the building, says Teagle.

“Careful thought has been given to every element of the building, from its position in the heart of Africa’s most vibrant and prestigious business hub, to the building’s energy footprint. Material selections, the placement of the building itself, and attention to detail have been optimised to achieve the best possible energy performance for a high-rise commercial property,” says Teagle.
