Tract of Knysna waterfront land for sale

One of the last remaining tracts of land along the Knysna lagoon is for sale at R42-million.

Situated at the entrance to Knysna and only 1 km from Knysna CBD, the property stretches from below the N2 to the high water mark of the Knysna Estuary and measures 1.03 ha.

Bought by the current owner’s grandfather just after the Millwood Gold Rush in the early 1900s the property was originally farmland and the main house, built in 1890, housed the farm manager. The interior has since been converted to accommodate a commercial tenant.

The property is zoned as a resort but contains an existing use condition ‘general store/supermarket’ which is open to the general public. It therefore includes a Kwik-spar as an anchor tenant. The remainder of the property is managed as a holiday park and consists of 30 camping sites, nine chalets and a number of caravan sites with permanent timber cabins. All services are connected to and supplied by the Knysna Municipality.

Lizette Monk, principal of Jawitz Properties Knysna and Sedgfield, says this is an excellent opportunity for developers to convert the current property into a residential development combining residential and commercial usage. Historically, the three adjoining properties were also managed as resorts, but have since been rezoned and developed as secure housing estates.
