Having generated interest among leisure buyers with 37 reservations before launching, the developers of Tamarina Golf Estate & Beach Club on the west coast of Mauritius have chosen South Africa as their first port of call in the official worldwide launch of Akasha, Tamarina’s River Estate.
Just over 40% of these reservations are from South African buyers, says Fabrice Orengo de Lamazière, a director of the International & Projects Division of Pam Golding Properties, the agency marketing the development.
“Akasha is an extension of Tamarina Golf Estate & Beach Club, set on 24.5ha. It appeals to the South African market with prime located homes that capture the best of tropical island indoor/outdoor living in a spectacular yet natural setting. The developers have decided to begin their global sales here – before offering the development in Europe - as South Africa has become the largest foreign market buying property in Mauritius.”
The developers and Pam Golding Properties will be presenting the development to interested buyers from noon till 8pm on April 19 and 20 at Melrose Arch Hotel in Johannesburg and on April 22 and 23 at the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town,” says de Lamazière.
He says though the project has not yet been officially launched, construction of services on site already commenced in January.
Clients can select the location for their villa from one of 28 plots - each an average of 1 600 m2 - along the river bank under the shade of century-old mango trees. Alternatively they can opt for one of the 32 stands, each about 2 500 m2 in size, on a higher plateau and set among fields interspersed with Acacia trees and surrounded by mountains, rivers and lagoons. The river villas include three bedroom units of 320 m2 or four bedroom units of 350 m2, priced at about US$1.5 million – including the stand.
The 32 plateau villas come in five different types, ranging from 350-450 m2 and priced on average around US$2.2 million, also including stands.
In addition to having access to Mauritian residency, owners at Akasha will be entitled to use the activities offered at Tamarina, which include an established golf course and a beach club, as well as a spa which opens soon.
