Atlantic Seaboard short term rentals

Hollywood Mansion is one of the luxury short term rental properties available through Anne Porter Knight Frank’s new Atlantic seaboard leasing division.

The glamorous exclusive luxury villa accommodation market has grown exponentially along Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard in recent years with film crews and high profile foreigners making up a large part of the short-term rental market, says Lanice Steward, MD of Anne Porter Knight Frank.

APKF is capitalising on the international reputation of its UK associates, Knight Frank, by branching into the upper bracket Atlantic Seaboard short term rental market.

“We are focusing on clients requiring accommodation for film shoots and on wealthy visitors who want the ultimate in luxury villas,” says Helen Hoekstra, APKF’s Camps Bay/Sea Point Manager.

“Properties valued at over R12 million with state-of-the-art design and usually situated in Clifton, Bantry Bay and Camps Bay can attract rentals varying from R3 000 to R30 000 a day. Many of those we already have on our list have been featured in magazines and continue to attract celebrities and fashion people.”

Hoekstra says owners of luxury apartments or villas often hire out their properties as short term rentals give far better returns than long term rentals, although obviously they need more management.

“The short term rental system allows owners to enjoy their own properties as and when they wish.”

An already popular upmarket favourite on APKF’s list is Hollywood Mansion. Features include a large outdoor wind-free patio with a built-in barbeque, a gas fireplace, an infinity rimflow swimming pool, a sunken wine cellar and a bar overlooking an entertainment area with a pool table and a natural river. All the bedrooms here have en suite bathrooms.

The villa also has a soundproof cinema with a stock of DVDs, a library with more than 500 books and a home gym with a sprung wooden floor.

“The package offered at this and certain other villas includes a resident butler and a housekeeper, which is quite common in upper bracket rentals these days,” says Hoekstra.
