Cape-based Spire Property Management opens Johannesburg office

Spire previously operated a successful office in Johannesburg managing Paramount Property Fund’s Gauteng properties until the sale of Paramount to Growthpoint in 2007. As a result of increased national business, Spire decided to re-establish a Gauteng office.

“This is an area that promises continued growth for the organisation,” says Spire MD, Marc Edwards.

“Spire’s portfolio has grown significantly in the past 12 months, despite the recession. Our property managers have targets for controlling their operational expenditure and we have encouraged them to nurse the income side of buildings during these difficult times while constantly looking for additional income earning opportunities to add value to clients’ properties. This approach seems to have paid dividends and reduced the pressure which potentially could have been felt by our clients,” says Charles Morris regional manager for the Johannesburg office.

“Spire has focused on adhering to green property management principles throughout its national portfolio. By focusing on reducing energy consumption and reducing waste it’s possible to increase the value of the owners’ investment through reducing costs while treading lightly on the planet which the entire industry needs to do given that buildings account for approximately 30% of green house gas emissions worldwide,” says Morris.
