The main house at Topas, a 4.3ha smallholding in the Jonkershoek Valley near Stellenbosch.
A smallholding with a house designed by Stefan Antoni is for sale in the Jonkershoek Valley near Stellenbosch.
Topas is a 4.3ha farm 3.5km from the centre of town. The property is for sale at R27.25 million through Pam Golding Properties.
PGP’s area manager for Stellenbosch, Louise Varga, says the lifestyle farm has views of the surrounding mountain peaks and deep valleys. Owners can keep horses and cultivate small crops if they wish, without shouldering the hassle and risk of a full-sized farm.
PGP’s MD for the Boland and Overberg regions, Annien Borg, says the main homestead was completed in 1998 to an open-plan design under thatch.
Features include antique Chinese doors with roller shutters, which open into an open-plan living area, anchored by a central tower containing a wine cellar adjacent to the kitchen.
A 300 m2 manager’s house has been created out of the property’s former barn, and two 200m2 labourers’ cottages are on the farm’s boundary.
The smallholding has 1.5ha planted to vines, as well as some fruit trees, olive trees, almond and pecan nut trees, and two boreholes - one providing drinking water and the other for irrigation. The water flows through a series of three farm dams, and three large water tanks provide additional storage space. There is also a large paddock and stabling sufficient for six horses, as well as tack storage rooms.
