This three bedroom Victorian home in Oranjezicht is for sale through Pam Golding Properties at R3.45 million.
Agents for Pam Golding Properties have recently sold an Oranjezicht home for R9.2 million, and PGP’s area manager for the City Bowl and Atlantic Seaboard, Basil Moraitis, says the high price achieved for the property is a sure sign of confidence in the City Bowl market.
Set on a 595 m2 erf, the modem three bedroom home is in an elevated position with views of the City Bowl, Table Bay and Table Mountain. The house has two bathrooms and two guest suites alongside its pool.
“The City Bowl is one of Cape Town’s perennially popular areas,” says Moraitis. “With its established suburbs and generous family homes, it has easy access to the central city, the V&A Waterfront, and the Atlantic Seaboard. There are excellent private and government schools in the area, making it ideal for family buyers. And it offers quick access to Cape Town International Airport and the city’s outlying suburbs, due to its proximity to the main highways. It is the ideal central position for those who want to enjoy all the different aspects of Cape Town. It is no surprise that there is ongoing constant demand for property here, coupled with limited supply. Despite the challenging market conditions of the past few months, we have even received competing offers on the same properties – a clear sign of ongoing confidence in this area’s sound investment value and exceptional lifestyle potential.”
The City Bowl area encompasses a wide variety of homes, from apartments and townhouses to security estates, free-standing family homes and some of the city’s oldest and most gracious historic homesteads. Prices for houses start at around R2 million, which will secure a small cottage in need of some renovation. More substantial family homes in good condition can fetch anything from R4.5 million upward, and the luxury glamour homes command prices of around R9 million.
PGP has properties in the area for sale ranging from R2.15 million to R25 million, says Moraitis.
Among them is a notable historic property – an Edwardian manor house in Oranjezicht, which has been extended and restored with meticulous attention to detail. The lavishly-appointed six bedroom house has three bathrooms and six reception rooms, and many of its original features are in place including woodwork, ornate ceilings and 13 fireplaces. It is for sale at R11.995 million.
A modern Scandinavian-inspired home on the slopes of Signal Hill has been entirely clad in wood to blend in with its surroundings. Situated in a quiet, wind-free position in a security estate, the home has four bedrooms, four bathrooms and magnificent views from its pool deck. It is for sale at R7.5 million.
