This 986 ha West Coast farm is for sale through Seeff West Coast Agricultural at R7.4m.
The Cape West Coast has the greatest variety of farms available in South Africa, according to Heinrich Koorts of Seeff West Coast.
“Farming activities in this region range from wheat to feeds like oats, barley, and lupine, large and small livestock, ostrich, game, crops such as lucerne, tef horse feed, corn and especially potatoes, and even vineyards and fruit crops.”
Seeff West Coast agent JN Loubser used to be a West Coast farmer, and now specialises in agricultural sales. He says there has recently been an increase in requests for agricultural properties and lifestyle farms the region.
“This type of property is becoming more popular with buyers from the Cape Metropole and the northern regions of the country, who want to experience the quality of life that the area has to offer as well as the farming lifestyle.
“Farms in this area are particularly appealing because they offer exceptionally good value for money, with a low rand per hectare prices when compared with other areas. Prices range from R4 000 - R10 000 a hectare, depending on the infrastructure on the farm. In comparison, in the Swartland and Boland prices range from R20 000 - R30 000 and more a hectare. Another reason is that there are almost no land claims in process in this region.”
He says buyers are looking for lifestyle farms of between 5 and 100 ha, and farms of 300 – 1 000 ha. There is no specific type of farming that is most popular, but the most popular price band is R2m - R5m.
